Work to create a new footpath between Porthleven and Loe Bar officially starts on Monday.

This follows major storm damage to a section of the path at the start of the year, which resulted in a large amount crumbling intro the sea, making it impassable.

Since then a 4km diversion has been in place, but at public meetings held by the National Trust, which manages the area, residents said how the important the path was.

Now, after months of planning and fundraising, work is to begin on a new, improved path - and people have been urged to stay away from the original damaged section while work is underway, for their own safety.

A Trust spokesperson said: "This will be a very busy few months with a lot of machinery and equipment coming and going.

"For everyone's safety we kindly ask that people stick to the diversion we have in place and not to enter the cliff fields."

The Penrose National Trust team has promised regular updates on the progress and to update people with an opening date.

In the meantime anybody with questions can contact the rangers on 01326 554082.
