A woman pulled from the water in Porthleven this morning has died.

Police confirmed the news in the last few minutes, but has given no further details at this time as next of kin are still to be informed.

The coastguard received a 999 call just before 11am, from a member of the public saying they could see a person in difficulty in the water.

Porthleven coastguard team, the coastguard helicopter from Newquay, Penlee inshore lifeboat, police and ambulance service were all scrambled.

When they arrived, a kayaker had already taken the woman ashore.

She was transferred to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro for treatment, but doctors were unable to save her.
