Kimberley Park has won a Green Flag Award, signifying its status as one of the best parks in the world.

The international award signifies that the park boasts the highest possible environmental standards and is well maintained with excellent visitor facilities.

The park was one of 1,883 others in the UK to receive the award.

Mayor Grenville Chappel said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award again this year as the park is very much at the centre of what the town has to offer its residents and tourists, Falmouth Town Council take so much pride in looking after such a wonderful area that is enjoyed by everybody.”

He went on to add “My thanks go out to Julian and his colleagues in the grounds maintenance team for their passion and hard work that achieves such high standards; we know how much quality green spaces matter to residents and visitors, and this award celebrates their dedication.”

Open during daylight hours throughout the year, Kimberley Park has a popular and inventive children's play area, table tennis tables and free events including Parklive on the last Sunday of each month throughout the summer.

It also has an on-site cafe where visitors can enjoy coffee in a tranquil environment amongst the mature trees and beautiful surroundings.

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme, with more Green Flags awarded this year than last year.”

“Each flag honours the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. We are proud to have so many wonderful green spaces in the UK for people to enjoy, and hope that next year, we award even more flags.”
