A five-car pile up caused chaos in Helston's main street earlier this morning.

Dramatic CCTV footage, playing above, shows a car in the Meneage Street parking bay accelerating towards a parked car in front, which in turn shunts three further cars.

One of the vehicles, a silver BMW, is pushed across the road by the force, smashing into the Sweet Pea Flora Studio, smashing crates and plants outside.

Owner Lin Turner said she waiting to speak to a builder, to confirm if there was any structural damage caused by the impact.

However, she added: "It happened so quickly. No one was injured, that's the main thing. Things can be replaced, people can't."

She added that by absorbing the force of the impact, the crates prevented the car from being pushed further, through the glass frontage of the Mather Partnership estate agents.

One elderly woman was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution, although it is not thought anyone was badly injured in the smash.
