A man is fighting for his life in hospital after allegedly being stabbed with a machete.
An ambulance was sent to an address in St Columb yesterday evening, with staff then calling police in for back up at around 11.10pm.
A 30-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries to his abdomen and was taken to Derriford Hospital by a search and rescue helicopter for treatment, where he remains today.
Police have now launched an investigation, looking for a person or group of people who is thought left the scene in a vehicle.
A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services attended the scene, where it was reported that the man had been injured with a machete.
"It’s thought that the offender(s) left the scene in a vehicle.
"Enquiries are ongoing into this matter."
