It was a busy Saturday for Porthoustock Coastguards after two shouts within six hours.

The team were first paged just before 11.45am to help coastguards from Falmouth and Portscatho in the continued search for a missing person.

Both coastguard teams had already searched a vast area over three days, with Porthoustock joining them for a fourth day of searching.

The team searched the shoreline from Devoran to Restronguet, but after a lengthy search with nothing found they returned to the station and closed down at 4.45pm.

They were back in just over an hour, however, when an 80-year-old man fell onto rocks in the fishing area of Porthkerris.

The team found the casualty quickly and while waiting for an ambulance to arrive they gave first aid to a small cut on his head, keeping him comfortable until he could be passed into the care of ambulance staff.

The team stood down at 7.30pm.
