A 42-YEAR-OLD man from Newquay has been released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of cannabis.

The arrest followed an alleged machete attack on a 30-year-old man in St Columb Major on Sunday night.

Police were called by ambulance at around 11.10pm to an address in St Columb Major following reports that a man had been stabbed.

Emergency services attended the scene where it was reported that the victim had been injured with a bladed article, possibly a machete.

It’s thought that the offenders left the scene in a vehicle.

The victim, a 30-year-old man, sustained life-threatening injuries to his abdomen and was taken to Derriford hospital by Search and Rescue helicopter. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.

The 42-year-old man from Newquay was later arrested and released on police bail until Monday, August 27.

Enquiries are continuing into this incident.
