Falmouth Police Cadets enjoyed their annual presentation evening at Penryn Council Office last week.

The evening celebrated the cadets' hard work over the last year with awards for attendance and participation, as well as rank promotions.

The Royal Cornwall Parachute Regimental Association donated and presented the PC Andy Hocking Trophy to police cadet Chelsea Heidstrom.

The association's vice president and 97-year-old World War Two veteran Peter Horne presented the award alongside colleague Tom French and Falmouth mayor Grenville Chappel.

The trophy is dedicated to former PC Andy Hocking, who died in 2015, and is awarded to the cadet who has gone above and beyond the normal role of a cadet.

Chelsea won the Cadets' Cadet award – voted for by their peers – alongside Ollie Knibb, who also won Cadet of the Year.

Falmouth and Helston Inspector Ian Thompson was in attendance and spoke of his pride with the cadet service, referring to the group as "the first stop in community engagement".

PCSO and cadet leader Ellie Grey thanked everyone associated with the cadets at the end of the evening, before the cadets surprised her with their own tribute to her dedication and passion to the service.
