The proud owners of Portreath Bakery, Marion and Peter Symonds celebrated 30 successful years of baking last Wednesday by giving a free Cornish cream tea party for the whole of the north coast village.
Marion Symonds told the Packet: “We wanted to bring the community together and say thank you to all our customers, staff and suppliers who have supported us for the last 30 years.”
Using the Portreath Harbour Association’s boat shed, around 800 people helped them celebrate in the summer sunshine by eating nearly 1,000 scones.
Marion added: “It has been an amazing event, with everyone from local children to the elderly residents of Harbour House Care Home enjoying a traditional Cornish cream tea made with locally sourced Boddingtons Berries Jam and Trewithen Dairy clotted cream and of course our own fresh baked scones.”
