A TEENAGER was airlifted to hospital yesterday with serious injuries to his pelvis and lower legs after his car was in a collision with a tractor.

The 19-year-old man was left trapped in his Suzuki Swift as a result of the impact on the B3280 near Goldsithney and had to be cut free by firefighters.

He was taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

Police closed the road between The Crown Inn and the A394 for eight hours, into the evening, while emergency services worked at the scene and waited for specialist recovery of the tractor.

Fire crews from Penzance, Tolvaddon and Helston were also called to the collision, along with ambulance and coastguards.
