An Olympic athlete will be joining runners in Helston this Saturday.

Penzance-born Team GB rower Helen Glover will be taking part in the Penrose Parkrun in Helston, which starts at 9am.

Helen, together with Heather Stanning, won gold medals at both the 2012 and 2106 Olympics in the women's coxless pairs, is a triple world champion and was ranked number one female rower in 2015.

Anyone can join her at the free parkrun event this Saturday, which follows a 5km route through the Penrose Estate, timed against the clock. Participants must register before the first time they run, however, at parkrun.org.uk/register.

The runs starts at the entrance to the Penrose Estate, next to the Fairground car park, opposite the Coronation Park boating lake.

Helen, 32, will be taking part in the event five weeks after giving birth to her first child, a baby boy called Logan.

She is one of hundreds of other Olympic and Paralympic athletes attending parkruns across the UK over the course of four weeks, August 18 to September 9, to encourage more people to try out running.
