An elderly woman has died in a house fire in Hayle last night.
A 999 call was made at 9.13pm, with firefighters from Hayle, Tolvaddon, St Ives and Perranporth all sent to tackle the serious blaze in a house at Parc and Dix Lane, Phillack. Specialist crews from Falmouth, St Just and St Dennis also gave back up.
Police have now confirmed that an elderly woman sadly died as a result of the fire.
A spokesperson said that when firefighters arrived at the house the blaze was already well established and upon searching the property a body was found.
Her next of kin have yet to be identified.
A Fire Investigation Team will be at the scene of the fire this morning to start an investigation into the cause of the incident.
Devon and Cornwall Police and South West Ambulance Service also attended last night.
