Police have confirmed they are not treating a fire that killed an elderly woman in Hayle as suspicious, as they continue to hunt for her next of kin.
The body of a woman in her 80s was found by firefighters searching the property in Parc An Dix Lane, Phillack, after a blaze broke out just before 9.15pm on Friday.
Officers with the Fire and Police Scenes of Crime unit have been carrying out an investigation of the scene since Saturday and this morning police have confirmed that they do not consider the cause of the fire to be suspicious.
A file is being prepared for the coroner.
However, formal identification of the body is yet to have been completed, with a police spokesperson saying: "At this time no next of kin has been located."
A 999 call was made at 9.13pm on Friday, with firefighters from Hayle, Tolvaddon, St Ives and Perranporth all sent to tackle the major blaze. Specialist crews from Falmouth, St Just and St Dennis also gave back up.
When firefighters arrived at the house the blaze was already well established.
