One of the best Helston Harvest Fair carnivals in recent years is how this year's event has been described by many who saw the colourful spectacle on Saturday.

There was lots of support for the carnival from both entrants and spectators, with the town centre busy with people lining the streets to see the floats and walkers go past.

Entries were up on previous years, with a number of large floats, small floats, groups and individuals.

Among the winners were Central Methodist Church Helston, who took home the trophy for best large float with their Poldark theme. Members dressed up as the various characters in some convincing costumes - so much so that superintendent minister Rev Danny Reed failed to recognise his own mother, Pauline, dressed as Prudie.

More results to follow.

Other organisations getting involved included Helston Fishermen's Mission, the Lizard Child Trust, Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers' Club, and Helston 2nd Brownies. Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team also brought their vehicle along to take part in the procession.

Judging took place at Tesco, with the procession leaving at 6pm to head down Trengrouse Way and Meneage Street to the bottom of Coinagehall Street, before turning around and heading back up the street, along Wendron Street and Godolphin Road, back to Tesco.
