Falmouth Oyster Festival is delighted to announce that St Michaels Falmouth are once again the main sponsor of this year’s festival next month.

Transformed in 2018 into a luxury beachside resort following a multi-million pound investment, St Michaels has supported the festival for over a decade and is a major contributor to its continuing success.

Nigel Carpenter, Chairman of St Michaels said: “St Michaels is delighted to continue its sponsorship of the festival in its 22nd year.

"The festival celebrates the start of the oyster fishing season and is the only place in the world where wild oysters are caught under sail.

"It is a great occasion that is particularly enjoyed by all locals, but is also a great opportunity to welcome friends from far and wide to share our festival and town. It continues to bring a great audience of food and culture enthusiasts to Falmouth, which highlights the heritage, depth and diversity of this great town.”

St Michaels always partakes in the Oyster Festival fully, helping to plan and organise the great event with Falmouth Festivals. St Michaels will operate the flagship Oyster and Seafood Bar in the main marquee, offering a range of locally sourced seafood dishes and freshly shucked oysters for visitors – all in conjunction with Les Angel and the oyster fishermen.

At the helm will be St the hotel's executive chef, Stuart Shaw, who will be sharing his culinary secrets and love of Cornish seafood and fresh produce at Saturday afternoon’s chef demonstration at 2pm.

There are also a number of oyster-inspired events at St Michaels itself.

At the new Brasserie on the Bay, a festival-inspired Sunday lunch will be served on October 14 accompanied by sea shanty singers, priced at just £27 per person.

On Friday 12 October, Laurent Perrier will lead a champagne grand marque tasting in the Wine Vaults at St Michaels, accompanied by afternoon tea. This exclusive event is limited to 20 tickets, priced £40.

The hotel is also offering an exclusive three-night Oyster Festival Break between 8 and 13 October from £259 per person, including a welcome cocktail, a seafood platter at the festival, a three-course dinner and breakfast each morning.

St Michaels has just finished its first phase of transformation into a new resort, having secured £50 m investment.

The new-look St Michaels offers a new world-class spa, a state-of-the-art health club, 32 new contemporary bedrooms in the Beach House, taking the total bedroom count to 84, and two new restaurants: Garden Kitchen and Brasserie on the Bay.

Commenting on their sponsor’s support, festival director Mike Rangecroft said: “All successful festivals need to be able to rely on their main sponsor. To that end St Michaels has proven to be a great supporter of the festival over the years. We thank them for their continued involvement in supporting the local community, especially as they transform into a destination in their own right.”
