Plans to build a 2000 bed student village in Penryn have been formally approved by Cornwall Council.
The plans for the Penvose Student Village were voted on in February by a council strategic planning committee, the approval being subject to a legal agreement being made.
This section 106 agreement has now been made, and the plans were given permission on September 26.
Penvose Student village will be situated between the Treluswell and Treliever roundabouts and along with student bed spaces will provide a new home for Penryn Surgery, units for businesses and start-ups, a hotel, shops, restaurants and a park and ride.
Mark Dawes, managing director of CAD Architects, the firm behind the development, believes that the student village will provide a solution to the pressures on Falmouth and Penryn's housing market caused by the rising numbers of students.
