A BRIDGWATER College counselling tutor has been asked to present a paper at the annual British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy research conference in Cardiff in May.
Jane Whitehead recently completed her Master's degree and submitted her thesis with the title Researching the core model: a qualitative study of the usefulness of a core model to counsellors in practice'.
She said: "In short, my research set out to see if what we teach in a college environment is in fact relevant or indeed useful to counsellors or psychotherapists in postgraduate practice.
"It was a very challenging subject and made all the more demanding by combining the research with teaching at the college and a hectic family life.
"However it is extremely rewarding to see that my research will be recognised in this way and I am really looking forward to sharing it in a public arena."
Jane has also been asked to contribute a how to' chapter in a core textbook aimed at work based research, training and professional learning, which has recently been accepted for publication by Routledge.
