The Royal Navy was called in to help clear away a severe diesel spillage on the Falmouth to Truro road near Treluswell this morning.
Emergency services were called to what was described as a "huge" spillage on the A39 just past the Treluswell roundabout heading towards Truro.
The fuel spill had come from a leaking tractor. The road was closed to enable it to be cleaned by Cormac.
The fuel spill was so severe that the Royal Navy attended with a water cannon to wash the road clean.
The fire appliance from Falmouth then proceeded from the fuel spillage towards Carnon Downs to deal with the leaking tractor.
Crews used special equipment to stop the leak from the tractor and also placed a mat over a nearby drain to stop leaking fuel entering the local water system.
Fire crews then escorted the tractor to its destination in Carnon Downs to help limit any futher fuel leaks.
