The Halfway House in Rame Cross has started its annual charity fundraising drive with a "try if you dare" karaoke evening.
The sing-a-long, the first in a series of planned events to support local charities, raised a massive £520 for Truro Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Jenny Ingate, joint owner of the Halfway House, said the event had been fantastic and it had given everyone confidence the upcoming fundraising events would be successful.
She said: "Local resident Jerry Trace was the chief fundraiser and he attracted support from as far afield as London and Canada after agreeing to sing in front of a microphone for the first time in his life."
The next charity bash in the pipeline is a "fun day" in August to help raise money for Cornwall Air Ambulance.
