Budding sailors from Cornwall are being invited to join a four day adventure across the Channel in July to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Four yachts will travel 300 miles from Portsmouth to St Malo, pausing for a brief stop-off at the Channel Islands. The event is open to both experienced sailors and novices, while individuals, teams or groups of friends may apply.

Registration costs just £100, but participants will each need to raise £1,250 in sponsorship. In return they will receive a free day of sail training, all onboard meals, and accommodation on the yacht for the duration of the voyage, not to mention the chance to visit the historic port of St Malo and the Channel Islands.

Crew will also be presented with a polo shirt and skipper's cap as a memento of their adventure.

Events Fundraiser Brooke Brownlow said: "We are thrilled to be launching such a new and exciting event for people looking for something a bit different.

"We hope sailors, both novice and experienced, will join us on a wonderful and unique Channel crossing and help raise valuable funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care."

The sail will take place on July 11 - 14. Places are strictly limited.
