While the proposed multi-million pound Falmouth Cruise Project moves along at a snail's pace the cruise industry goes from strength to strength with nine large cruiseships due to come into service this year.
The ships are MSC Poesia (93,300 tons/2,568 passengers), Aidabella (68,500/2,050), Ventura (116,000/3,100), Eurodam (86,000/2,100), Carnival Splendour (113,000/2,974), Ruby Princess (116,00/3,100), MSC Fantasia (133,500/3,300) Celebrity Solstice 118,000/2,850) and Independence of the Seas (158,000/3,654).
Until such times as the capital dredging project and cruise terminal are completed all of the ships are too large to come into Falmouth if the port was on their cruise itineraries.
