Sister cyclists Kathy James and Julie Towers are back home from their sponsored 943 mile cycle from from John O'Groats to Land's End none the worse for wear and happy to say they were both puncture free.
Kathy, who lives at Highertown, works at Carnon Downs doctors' surgery, where she is the one patients see when they need a blood test or routine blood pressure check. She is currently studying at college to become an assistant practitioner.
Julie, who lives at Lewdown, works as a VAT consultant. Both were brought up in Carnon Downs.
This is not the first sponsored effort for the sisters as a few years ago they raised money for the same Cornwall Hospice Care Fund, a charity close to both of their hearts through care given to their late father, when they climbed Kilimanjaro.
Other of two Kathy said at the weekend when they returned: "It was absolutely fantastic. We had one day when it rained continually from Ludlow to Bristol, but apart from that we had dry, ideal cycling weather."
The pair, who cycled for 14 days, kept to main roads, choosing an indirect route and travelling 60 miles further than necessary in order to travel where there could be less traffic expected.
The end result of their trip was a fantastic £4,000, exceeding their expectation by at least £1,000.
