THE Sich/Trerise Cups - an 18 hole medal competition - has been played at Mullion Golf Club.

The Trerise Cup for the best gross score with the Sich Cup being awarded to the player with the best net score.

On a wet and windy morning over 50 golfers entered the competition and Tim Madigan (handicap 7) returned a gross score 77 to beat Lester Ashton (handicap 8) 78 to win the Trerise Cup.

The Sich Cup was won by Richard Harvey (handicap 12) with a net score of 67 to beat Stewart Boon (handicap 13) who returned a net 70.

Sich Cup (handicap): 1, R. Harvey - 67; 2, S. Boon - 70 (L.9); 3, T. Madigan - 70. Trerise Cup (scratch): 1, T. Madigan - 77; 2, L. Ashton - 78 (L.9); 3, M. Pitt - 78.

Club mixed competition: 1, Mr B. and Mrs R. Sanders - 36 points (L.9); 2, R.G. Williams and Mrs B. Sibley - 36 points; 3, Mr G. and Mrs M. Howells - 35 points.

With a cold east wind the ladies played their Stableford Winners play-off alongside the monthly Stableford. Winning the salver for this year with a brilliant 41 points was Liz Fairweather, cutting her handicap once again.

Stableford winners - Division One: Dawn Lyon 36 points, runner-up Jane Henderson 34 points.

Division Two: Liz Fairweather 41 points, runner-up Lydia Gilbert 38 points, and third Margaret Richardson 34 points.
