Steve Strick and Gordon Tamblyn (Mullion) won the Men's Open Four Ball Better Ball at Praa Sands Golf Club on Sunday with 54 nett, writes Simon Edwards.

Jon Cox (Mullion) and Mark Prisk (Mullion) were second with 56, Gareth Clemens and Nigel Waters third with 57 and Mike Hatch and Scott Willett (Mullion) fourth with 59 on the last nine holes from Ken McIlroy and Dave Rollason and Joe Hill and Steve Lugg who were fifth and sixth respectively.

Anna Harry won the Ladies' Trethewey Putter on Saturday with 34 points. 29 points gave Barbara Wilkins second place on the last nine holes from Jennifer Chambers with Elizabeth Murrish taking fourth place with 28 points.

Colin Cratchley, Jack Hill and Roy Hillyar won Friday's Fun Golf (2-scores to count) on countback from Mike Jacka and Francis Vickerstaffe with Di and Richard Lyons taking third.

Club captain, Simon Phillips, won the weekly Stableford with a super 44 points. Vice-captain Paul Kirkman was second with 42 and John Friggens third with 39.

Phyllis Williams won the Ladies' nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning with 16 points. Caz Hardman was second with 14 on countback from Polly Little. Caz Hardman also won the putting competition on countback from Polly Little and Diana Kelynack.

There is more "Fun Golf" on Friday evening. The Kensa Peswarré Mixed Foursomes Trophy (regular partners) is on Saturday and the men play for the Ford Trophy (singles Medal) on Sunday.

Next week there is a weekly Stableford (for all playing members); the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet on Wednesday afternoon.

Forthcoming events: The Bader Cup qualifier (mixed greensome) takes place on Monday, May 16, with a shotgun start at 5.30pm and the Haulfryn Cup Open is on Saturday July 5 with lots of excellent prizes. Entries to the Haulfryn Cup is restricted to 48 men (am) and 36 ladies (pm) so get your entry in early.
