A road closure that has caused “chaos” in Truro this evening has recently reopened following a crash.
The A390 has been closed in both directions since 4.15pm today (Friday) after two vehicles collided at the Pencalenick turn-off.
The road was shut between Pencalenick and Waitrose, while emergency services worked at the scene.
The drivers of both vehicles were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, although police said their injures were not life-threatening or life-changing.
Traffic monitoring system INRIX was reported heavy congestion and slow traffic, stretching to the Trafalgar Roundabout and towards Carland Cross as the traffic diverted away.
It also affected traffic between Truro and Probus.
One person told the Packet: “Truro is in chaos. Getting to Tresillian and beyond is a nightmare.”
However, a force incident manager for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed to the Packet that the road reopened at 6.36pm, adding: “The queues can now subside.”
