A 78-YEAR-old driver was injured and taken to hospital after a single-vehicle road traffic collision closed a road in Truro for seven hours.

The collision occurred on Sunday, February 12 on the A390, Higher Besore Road in Truro between the Langarth Park and Ride roundabout and Truro College Roundabout.

At 12.16pm, emergency services were notified and dispatched to the scene.

The South West Ambulance Service, Cornwall Fire and Rescue, and Devon and Cornwall Police arrived to find a 78-year-old driver in the vehicle who was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske.

The section of the A390 where the collision took place was closed for seven hours while police conducted their investigation.

Officers from the Roads Policing Team are now appealing to the public for any information regarding the incident.

They are specifically asking for witnesses who may have dashcam footage of the collision to come forward and contact the police.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "At 12.16pm on Sunday, February 12 2023, police were notified of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A390, Higher Besore Road, Truro between the Langarth Park and Ride roundabout and Truro College Roundabout.

"South West Ambulance Service, Cornwall Fire and Rescue and Devon and Cornwall Police attended the incident.

"A 78-year-old driver was located in the vehicle and was taken to Treliske Hospital.

"This section of the A390 was closed for seven hours while police investigated the collision.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for any witnesses, particularly those with dashcam footage of the collision, to come forward quoting log 364 of 12th February 2023."
