In damp and slippery conditions at the Mennaye Field on Saturday, the outcome of this game saw a rare home defeat for the Pirates Amateurs who scored three tries in the match through backrowers Eli Williams and Eddy Hall and from full-back Ryan Forrester. Fly-half Rhys Brownfield also kicked a penalty goal.

Speaking after the game, head coach Murray Westren said:

“This was a disappointing result for us at home, however it was no less than we deserved.

“We certainly didn’t play to the level and identity aimed for, but full credit must go to the Oaks for their performance.

“Looking forward to next Saturday, we must now use this defeat as a platform to bounce back in what will be a challenging and hopefully exciting Cup match encounter at home to Wadebridge Camels.”
