In addition, Godolphin Road will be closed from 8.30am until 10.30am with parking restrictions operating in this area from midnight on May 4. Any vehicles deemed by the Police to obstruct the route or be likely to cause danger to the public may be removed at the owner’s expense.

The Porthleven Road will also be closed from its junction with the A394 Penzance Road to Squired Lane from 6pm on Thursday, May 4 until 10pm. This restriction will also apply from 6.30am on Friday, May 5 until 10pm.

A ‘one-way’ system will operate in Ratcliffe’s Lane from Helston to Porthleven during that time.

Due to the road closures on the day, bus company First has announced route diversions for its customers on its website.

It reads: “From the Thursday 4th of May to Friday the 5th of May there will be several road closures in Helston for Helston Flora Day.

This will cause service disruption for the U4, L1 and L2 services.”

For those who will need transport in and out of Helston on the day, temporary taxi ranks will be based at Promobility on Trengrouse Way and by Helston Diesel at St John's Business Park.

A spokesperson from The Helston Flora Day Association said: “We apologise for any inconvenience that this will cause, but these actions are necessary for the interest of public safety to ensure that the dance routes and other relevant areas are kept clear of vehicles.

“We request your cooperation to help keep people attending the event safe and reduce the demand on the police and other resources at this busy time and your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.”
