A STOPPAGE-time goal scored on Monday afternoon by Truro City’s skipper Connor Riley-Lowe, saw the Cornish team beat Bracknell Town 3-2 to win the Southern League Premier South play-offs and gain promotion to National League South.

The White Tigers, who made the final after beating Poole Town 4-1 on penalties last Wednesday, had been pegged back twice by Bracknell before the former Exeter City player’s all-important goal was scored in the fifth minute of added time.

It also means Truro City will return to the sixth tier for the first time in four years.

After Truro’s Tyler Harvey scored the game’s opening goal just before halftime, a Darryl Sanders penalty leveled the scores before Andrew Neal put City 2-1 up from close range after 58 minutes.

Bracknell’s Gary Abisogun's effort soon made it 2-all before, four minutes later, made it 2-2,  before Truro skipper Riley-Lowe ultimately struck the winner.

Speaking after the game, Truro City manager Paul Wotton said: "Without a shadow of a doubt it's the proudest moment in my career.

"I've had some really special moments, and I class myself as very, very fortunate to be managing this group of players - they've been absolutely outstanding and they deserve all the accolades, they deserve everything they've got.

"Everyone wrote us off today, everything was against us - the bus broke down on the way, we turned up late - but we don't moan, we get on with it, they grind it out."
