CORNWALL Cricket Board will host a special fundraising ball this summer to raise money to support cricket across the Duchy.

The board’s Summer Ball will take place during the evening of August 25 at the Penventon Hotel, Redruth.

The evening will consist of a three-course meal, a magician, an auction, and dancing with all profits going to the board for cricket in Cornwall.

The not-for-profit board provides adults and children aged five years and over with the opportunity to take part in the sport.

As well as working with its own teams, including pathway cricket which sees young people compete across the South West it also works towards professional teams and cricket for people with disabilities who hope to have their first ever county team soon.

Cornwall Cricket Board also offers training for coaches and umpires and supports cricket clubs across the county.

Marketing communications and fundraising officer Tamsin Chapman-Gunner said: “As you can imagine the more, we do the more money we need to raise, and our Summer Ball is just one of many ways that people can support Cricket in Cornwall.

“We would be delighted if people could buy a ticket or two for our event but if not they could sponsor the event or offer an auction prize for the evening. Alternatively, we have some great packages for sponsoring our teams.”

Managing Director Joe Skinner added: “It’s going to be a fun evening and we hope that this is the first of many annual summer balls. Cricket is becoming ever more challenging to play due to the associated costs, such as membership, equipment, facilities, and staffing.

“In recent times we have found that people are moving away from volunteering and require remuneration, all of these needs paying for. For Cornwall Cricket Board to continue to deliver the excellent work we have started throughout the pathway we need to diversify our funding, so we are in a position to keep prices affordable for families across Cornwall.”

Tickets are available for £55 each or £500 for a table of 10 by emailing tamsin@cornwallcricket.co.uk.

Tickets bought by the end of June will benefit from the board’s early bird offer of £50 per ticket.
