Camborne RFC's annual general meeting attracted the largest attendance for many years despite a difficult season on and off the field for the Cherry and Whites.

President David Roberts stood down after 17 years and having made a huge contribution to the club. Members showed their appreciation with a standing ovation.

Roberts, in his opening remarks, paid tribute to the hard work and dedication of the many who work tirelessly in the "Town" cause and highlighted in particular the spirit of the young players thrown into the 1st XV and the success of the 3rd XV in clinching their Merit Table title.

Long serving John Dunstan succeeded Roberts as president with another Cherry and White stalwart, Alan Truscott, taking over as chairman.

Truscott, following in the footsteps off his father, called for the resurrection of the general committee to help the executive deliver a resurgent club that the town of Camborne can unite behind.

The hardworking Peter Floyd, after 50 years' association with the club, received the 2007-08 clubman of the year award.
