Charlie May won the men's Willy Bromley trophy on Sunday with a brilliant 72-16=56 at Praa Sands Golf Club, writes Simon Edwards.

Chris Dunn was second with 70-12=58, John Murrish third with 72-13=59, Paul Kirkman fourth with 81-21=60 and Paul Murrish fifth with 76-15=61.

Judy Harris and Pat Collins (Sparkwell) won the ladies' Invitation Day Greensome Stableford on Saturday with a superb 44 points. Linda Gale and Chris Campion (Sparkwell) were second with 41 on the back nine from Jackie Quick and Mo Hammond (Falmouth).

Phyllis Williams and Yvonne Ratcliff (Falmouth) won the best front nine and Connie May and Ann Richards (Cape Cornwall) the back nine. Mo Hammond won the longest drive on the seventh and Linda Gale and Chris Campion won nearest the pin on the third.

The men's mini-league team won their home match against Radnor 5-2.

The ladies' mini-league team won their home match against Bowood 3 to 1.

Barry Knowles, Norman Manley and Dave Rollason won Friday's Invitation evening.

Weekly Stableford results: 1, Mel George, 35; 2, Siân Lugg, 34; 3, Roy Hillyar, 32.

Linda Gale won the ladies' nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning with 22 points on countback from Elizabeth Murrish. Phyllis Williams took third place on countback from Jennifer Chambers with both ladies scoring 20 points. Ann Seabrook won the putting competition.

There is no fun golf this Friday as the course is being prepared for Saturday's Haulfryn Cup.

The men play for the Rover Trophy on Sunday and next week, the Veterans Trophy (for all members over 50 years young) takes place on Tuesday. There is a weekly Stableford (for all playing members); the ladies play a nine-hole Stableford on Wednesday morning and the Ogres meet on Wednesday afternoon.
