there was a thrilling finish at Porthleven in the Dawe Insurance Andrew Cup quarter finals with Troon seconds winning by losing fewer wickets in a tied game.

Porthleven needed 13 off the last over bowled by Matt Thomas to Jamie Strachan. The first two balls were dots. Off the third ball and fourth balls twos were scored and the fifth ball saw a six struck over long off. Needing three to win or two to tie, (wickets at the time level at five each), Strachan attempted a repeat of the previous ball but it only went along the ground to long off. The batsmen scampered two runs, but the non striker attempted to run a third with the ball in the bowler's hand. He was run out having only left his ground by three yards thus handing Troon the win.

A fantastic game played in fading light and drizzle, and a credit to both teams.

Troon II 141-5 (David Jenkin 38no, M Jenkin 22no, M Thomas 22; A Young 2-31), Porthleven 141-6 (R Williams 44, A Young 32, J Strachan 23no).
