MYLOR

FLOWER CLUB: Members hosted a flower arranging demonstration held in the Methodist Church, Falmouth on June 24. The demonstrator, David Ragg, whose family now live locally, is a very talented florist running two very busy shops in Bournemouth and is a repeated Chelsea Flower Show gold medallist. He has inherited his love of flowers from his mother and grandmother and is proud to be the third generation working in this field. He kept the audience enthralled with his use of unusual blooms rarely seen in this part of the world while keeping up an interesting dialogue and answering questions.

David's chosen theme for the demonstration was called "The Garden Party" which allowed him full scope to produce many different designs ranging from the effectiveness of just a few choice blooms in a container to wonderful hand tied bouquets suitable for any occasion. His use of fruit, either as part of the arrangement or even using a melon as the container itself showed how to stretch the imagination and just go that one step further to create an unusual talking point for any social gathering be it a simple garden party or a wedding. His message was to be bold with the use of colour and his zinging arrangements that were consequently raffled bore this out.
