There have been mixed views on turning a Falmouth hotel into housing apartments.
The owner of the Rosslyn Hotel in Kimberley Park Road wants to create 12 apartments out of the existing hotel building.
When the application came before the town council's planning committee it received mixed feelings from members.
Councillor Kevin Ayres said: "I'm concerned about several aspects and one is the loss of two star accommodation in the town. I just feel over time there's less and less hotels."
Other councillors felt they would rather see apartments there than the building become dilapidated.
Councillor Stephen Eva said: "It's a hotel struggling for businesses, so it shows it's not such a loss to the hotel business. We're here to decided whether 12 flats are better than an empty building."
In a majority vote members agreed to offer no objections to the planning application from Mr R Jobson, although two councillors voted against the motion.
