A stretch of freshly resurfaced pavement in Falmouth, likened by a town councillor to vomit is to be torn up.

Complaints about the section of yellow granite flecked pavement had flooded in with locals saying it looked terrible.

One kinder resident said it looked like cornflakes.

The pavement outside Argos was laid to gauge public opinion and was part of a test scheme for the £400,000 resurfacing of the town's Market Street and Church Street in October.

The yellow flecks were designed to reflect the materials of nearby buildings.

Mayor Mike Varney made the damning verdict of "disgusting" at a meeting of the town council's planning committee on Monday evening.

Andy Stevenson, the county council's highway asset manager said they had come to conclusion the scheme did not work and it would be removed.

The 50 metre stretch of pavement is thought to have cost taxpayers over £2,000.
