Prince Charles and the Duchess at the Prince of Wales Pier

Comments (0)Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, are in Falmouth this lunchtime.
They have just left from the Prince of Wales Pier, where they officially rededicated the St Nazaire Memorial that has been moved from the Church Street car park.
The remaining veterans who were involved in the daring raid - which began from Falmouth and played a large role in bringing about the end of the Second World War - were presented to Their Royal Highnesses.
The couple arrived on the new St Mawes Ferry that had earlier been named the Duchess of Cornwall. They stepped onto the pier to the tunes of Pendennis Brass band and met local dignitaries including Falmouth mayor Mike Varney, town clerk Mark Williams and David Pollard, Falmouth town manager.
This was followed by a short service conducted by the Rev Barrington Bennetts, the honorary priest at the Church of King Charles the Martyr.
Their Royal Highnesses are currently at the coastguard station at Pendennis Point, where they are receiving a tour of the centre and meeting the staff.
