One of the biggest and most festive events in Helston’s calendar will return next week – and this year the festivities will certainly not disappoint.

The organisers of the Helston Christmas Light Switch-on have revealed a stellar lineup of entertainment during the evening of the grand light switch, on Friday, November 24.

Over the past few weeks, the lights have been going up around town and this year will see some new displays and brighter LED lights on the main trees by the Monument at the bottom of town and the top of town.

Bus services will be unavailable during the road closure, and people are advised to plan their route from Tesco or The Parade at the bottom of Trengrouse Way. However, there are bus stops near the town centre if you plan your route carefully.

Taxis will be at temporary ranks at Monument Road at the bottom of town or up by the VW garage at the top of town.

People are also being asked to refrain from parking in the town from 2pm on switch-on day as streets will need to be cleared by 3.40pm for traders to start getting their pitches ready.

Throughout the evening before the grand switch on at 7.30pm there will be plenty of things to do and see, as well as various food stalls including a hog roast, burgers, crepes, wraps, cookies, chocolate churros, hot jacket potatoes and doughnuts available. Helston’s takeaway shops will also be open.
