The owner of a convenience store in the heart of a seaside village has announced it will close its doors permanently after three years.

Sandy Stores has been the go-to shop for people to buy food, drinks and pasties for their trips to Praa Sands Beach since 2020.

The shop next to RJ Supplies on Pengersick Lane will now close its doors for the final time, leaving members of the public saddened by the announcement.

On Wednesday, the owners of Sandy Stores explained why they are closing, which was shared in a Facebook group.

The note reads: “We have had to take the difficult decision to close, as trying to stay open in the current economic climate has proven impossible.

“We would like to thank all our lovely customers for their continued support over the last three years.

“We have loved running the shop and getting to know these amazing people in this community. We will miss everyone, and we are so sad for this to be happening.

“Again, thank you all so much.”

Since the post was shared, more than 20 comments have been left, with people expressing their sadness that the shop will close.

One said: “Such sad news. We always supported them whenever we visited. Won’t be able to get my pasty for the beach now. Good luck to everyone, I hope you find work.”

Another agreed: “Really lovely bunch, they made a real go of it and did well to last three years. Yet another business that is the casualty of the season population fluctuations we see here.”
