A new underwear shop dedicated to comfort, self-expression, and inspirational messages for women of all shapes and sizes has opened in Penzance.
The new underwear shop named Knickerhood has opened its doors for women of all shapes and sizes on Union Street, Penzance and online.
Founded on the principles of empowerment, self-expression, and inclusivity, by Penzance locals Emily and Lena - Knickerhood offers a range of knickers that caters to all shapes and sizes – complete with inspirational slogans to embrace and support the uniqueness of every individual.
Knickerhood was inspired by a wish to bring a message of support to women, and brings a fresh perspective to knickers, combining comfort, and inspirational words with modern aesthetics.
In a post shared on the Knickerhood website, Emily and Lena explain the reason why they wanted to provide supportive and inspirational pants for women all over the world, and in Cornwall. It reads: “Hello! We are Emily & Lena.
“Knickerhood was born from our own experiences of empathising with women going through tough times and feeling triggered whilst sitting on the loo!
“We started to think how many women must feel at some point in their lives sad, alone, and possibly even desperate whilst sitting on the toilet. Perhaps it’s menstruation difficulties or fertility procedures.
“For some, it may be IBS triggered by stressful situations. It could be stress incontinence, cystitis, post-partum… the list goes on!
"We thought a little message of empowerment and encouragement from a friend or loved one that you could see while you’re sitting there – something that acknowledges your suffering, and that says; ‘I see you, I’m here for you’.
"What better place than inside your knickers! The most private place that only you can see."
The pants, which are made in Penzance – are created using Tencel and cotton, and all packaging is free, as per Penzance’s ‘Plastic Free’ status. Knickers include: “Born to be WILD, but today it’s okay to be MILD’, ‘Girl, you’ve totally got this’, and ‘Deep breath, Hair flick, Nail check, GO!’
