A PENZANCE woman who pleaded guilty to charges of stalking, criminal damage, and assault has been jailed.

Beverley Morgan, aged 32, of Hanover Court in Penzance, appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates' Court on Thursday, December 7, 2023, on one count of assault by beating, and one count of stalking without fear, alarm, or distress.

The stalking offence took place between March and October 2023 where Morgan pursued a course of conduct that amounted to the stalking of a female victim and which she knew or ought to have known amounted to harassment.

On Saturday, April 29, in Penzance, Morgan assaulted a separate female victim by beating her. Then, on Monday, May 1, 2023, she damaged a mobility scooter, front window, front door, and blinds belonging to the same victim.

Morgan pleaded guilty to all three offences, having changed her initial plea for the assault charge.

During her sentencing, Morgan was handed down a period of imprisonment totalling 21 weeks, with the court noting that the violent nature of the assault against a vulnerable victim, and using a bottle as a weapon, was so serious that only a custodial sentence could be justified.

She was also made the subject of two restraining orders, both lasting for a period of two years, and made to pay £250 in compensation.
