A MAN charged with attempted murder has appeared before Truro magistrates after a woman was found with serious injuries at a house in Camborne.

Malcolm Meadows, aged 49, from Camborne appeared in custody at Truro Magistrates’ Court this morning following an incident in Camborne on February 21.

Meadows was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found seriously injured at a house in Uglow Close, Camborne.

Looking frail and leaning on a stick Meadows was remanded in custody to appear at Truro Crown Court via video link on March 26 as the magistrates’ do not have the powers to deal with such an offence.

There was no application for bail

Police were called to Uglow Close in Camborne in the early hours at around 5.55am after calls about a woman at a property there being seriously injured.

The woman was taken to hospital where she is receiving treatment for her injuries.

They said at the time both the man arrested and the woman were believed to be known to each other. There was an increased police presence in the area while enquiries too place

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said at the time: “Police were called at around 5.55am on Tuesday, February 20, to a property in the area of Uglow Close, Camborne, following a report of a woman seriously injured.

“She remains in hospital receiving treatment. Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident. A man in his 40s from Camborne has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.

“Both parties are believed to be known to each other and enquiries remain ongoing in the area. There will be an increased police presence during this time.
