Voting in now open in an annual awards ceremony celebrating Camborne's 'local heroes' - and this is how to vote.

Since its inception in 2020, the annual Camborne Community and Commerce Awards have paid tribute to individuals, groups, and companies that are acknowledged by voters as being significantly valuable to the town.

Jointly managed by BID Camborne and Camborne Town Council, a total of 12 awards are up for grabs.

To be considered, nominees must live, work, study, volunteer or participate in a community activity in Camborne.

Voters can cast their votes either in person - with voting boxes placed in several locations around town including the library, Tyacks Hotel, Kath's Plaice, Up Memory Lane Interiors, Camborne Games, Tesco, Delight2Bite, Cornish Oven and the British Heart Foundation- or online via the town council's website.

Anna Pascoe, BID Camborne manager said: "These awards have become a highlight of the Camborne calendar and we're looking forward to another bumper year of nominations.

"All nominations will be carefully scrutinised by our judging panel and a shortlist of nominees will be announced by April 20."

Camborne Mayor Zoe Fox was enthusiastic about the recognition these awards provide.

She said: "Camborne is a fantastic place to live, work and play, and we have a great sense of community - it's nice to be able to recognise this through these awards.

"This is our chance to say 'thank you' and show our appreciation."

The deadline for nominations falls on March 13 at midday, with the ceremony itself to follow on May 23.
