A popular Helston restaurant will officially open its doors this month after an extensive refurbishment.

Wheal Dream will be welcoming customers, new and old on Sunday, March 17, with its popular carvery being served between 12pm and 6pm.

Last month, the Packet revealed that Barry and Naomi Clark would be taking back Wheal Dream for a third time after Cornish Food Hub ceased trading after 15 months.

At the time, Naomi told the Packet: “This is third time lucky for us.

“We handed it over at the end of 2022 to spend more time with our family and relax a bit more.

“Slightly ironic given that we will be as busy as ever.

“But now we have taken it back, we want it to be the Wheal Dream that people know and love once again.”

Since the Clarks took back their beloved restaurant, extensive refurbishment work has been carried out by friends, family and former ‘Dream Team’ members ready for it to open.

With less than two weeks to go until the restaurant officially reopens, Barry explained what customers can expect to see on the menu, including a nod to his other business, Catch in Porthleven. He said: “We will bring a bit of Catch into the Wheal Dream, by offering local’s favourite fish, chips, curry sauce and mushy peas, as well as our signature dish, ‘Barry’s Fried Chicken’ (BFC) and of course the popular Sunday carvery much loved by everyone.”

There will also be some familiar faces making up the Wheal Dream team. Barry and Naomi’s children Jake, 18 will be training as a chef while daughter Amelia will be waitressing.

Ryan ‘Borris’ Jenning’s, will oversee the running of the restaurant - whilst keeping customers entertained.

In a post shared on the Wheal Dream Facebook page, the team said they were ‘so excited’ to finally be opening. It reads: “First official day back.

“Save the date: Sunday, March 17, serving our carvery from 12-6pm.

“Bookings are now being taken; we would like to remind you that spaces will go quickly.

“We’re so excited, who is joining us?”
