Police say they have identified a man they wanted to speak to in connection with a report of an assault in Victoria Square in Truro, on Friday, February 16.

It follows a photo appeal issued by the force on Thursday, March 14.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Officers would like to thank members of the public for their support."


Police are looking to speak to a man in connection with an assault in Truro last month.

The assault which was said to have taken place at around 11.45pm on Friday, February 16 saw a man being taken to hospital with serious facial and head injuries.

Police are now looking for any witnesses or anyone with relevant information to contact them.  

A force spokesperson said: “Police investigating a report of an assault in Truro and have released pictures of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

“It happened in Victoria Square, Truro at approximately 11.45pm on Friday 16 February.

“A man was knocked unconscious and sustained serious head and facial injuries which required hospital treatment.

“Police investigating the incident would like to identify the man pictured as they believe he may be able to assist with their enquiries.

“We are aware that the quality of the images is low, however, at this time they are the only images we have and we hope that the public may be able to assist." 

The police are asking those with relevant information about the man pictured to report it by calling 101 or by visiting the Devon and Cornwall Police website and quoting reference number 50240038782.
