A vigil held in Falmouth last night to remember the life of James ‘Jim’ Henderson saw around 200 people attend as tributes continue to pour in from across Cornwall.

The vigil and protest event was held on Event’s Square and The Moor on Wednesday (April 2) to remember the life of Mr Henderson, from Penryn, who was killed by an Israeli air strike in Gaza alongside John Chapman, 57, and James Kirby, 47.

All three were working for the World Central Kitchen’s security team and were among seven of its staff killed on Monday night.

Also dying in the attack were the team’s leader, 43-year-old Lalzawmi “Zomi” Frankcom, an Australian national, along with American-Canadian dual citizen Jacob Flickinger, 33, Polish national Damian Sobol, 35, and Palestinian Saifeddin Issam Ayad Abutaha, 25.

The convoy was hit as it was leaving the Deir al-Balah warehouse, where the team had unloaded more than 100 tonnes of humanitarian food aid taken to Gaza on the maritime route, the charity said.

Palestine Solidarity Cornwall, who organised the vigil, said despite heavy rain an estimated 200 people attended the vigils on Event’s Square and The Moor.

They added: “We had a silent walk through the town as well, and it was a really moving and powerful event."

Tributes are continuing to pour in for Mr Henderson from local clubs and businesses.
