New landlords have been revealed for popular Helston bar Henlys – and they are well known in the town.

The bar and restaurant at the top of Church Street in Helston, Cornwall, has been closed since last October, with many wondering about its future.

However, on Sunday evening it was confirmed that the bar was under new management, by four well known faces in town.

It will now be run by Andy and Michelle Perry, and Lee and Lisa Spicer, who hope to get it up and running again in time for Flora Day on May 8.

Andy and Michelle were owners of Andy’s Barbers at the top of Coinagehall Street, just around the corner from Henlys, while Lee and Lisa were previously owners of Hellys Tearoom in Meneage Street.

Both couples said they had missed being part of Helston’s business community and were now excited for their new venture together.

In a joint statement issued by all four, they said: “So the rumours are true! Henlys is re-opening under new management.

“Let us introduce ourselves. You may already know us all!

“Michelle and Andy were owners of Andy’s Barbers and Lee and Lisa were previous owners of Hellys Tearoom.

“Both couples have missed being part of the Helston business community, so when the opportunity arose to take Henlys under our wing we couldn’t say no!

“We are so excited to be part of this new venture together and to be back in Helston.

“So, exciting times ahead! Our first project is to get the wine bar up and running...maybe in time for Flora Day!

“Watch this space for regular updates on our progress. We are looking forward to welcoming you all back.”

Andy and Michelle added: “A lot of work has to be done to get the show on the road, but believe us when we say, we are working day and night to get Henlys back open. A place that has been missed.”

Lisa and Lee added: “We've always been regulars of Henlys as it's always so nice to simply go somewhere you can just sip on a nice glass of wine or enjoy a great coffee or beer and do nothing but relax, or maybe catch up with friends and family in a warm and welcoming environment, which is exactly what we aim to achieve and move forward with.”
