The young persons theatre group and award winning Young Generation carry out their final rehearsals for their summer production of ‘Pied Piper’ on Monday and then go on stage the following eventing.

The story is set around the town square of Hamlin with an amazing working clock tower. Rebecca Martin-Bawden stars as the Pied Piper and is helped in her quest to rid Hamlin of their plague of rats by Peter the lame boy played by Dylan Frankland.

The show opens with the cast performing one of the songs written for the show ‘Hamlin Town’ with the usual imaginative choreography dreamt up by Trenton Spear. The show was written by Liza Phipps & Avril Thompson and first performed many years ago for a school (where they were both employed as a Drama teacher and Director of Music) in High Wycombe, they have since adapted the show for stage and say “We are both delighted the Young Generation are bringing the ‘Pied Piper’ to the South West for the first time”.

The show features a variety of songs performed under the Musical Direction of Sue Whitmore.

The cast were lucky enough to be invited to perform two musical numbers from the Pied Piper at the recent ‘Last night of the Cornish Proms’ held at the Hall for Cornwall. This was an amazing evening with the cast being well received by the audience, it gave the cast a taste of performing in front of a live audience.

The cast are thoroughly enjoying working with director Kath Frankland who’s enthusiasm for the show is contagious. It is taking place at The Poly, Church St, Falmouth showing until Friday August 9.
