Packet competition winner names restaurant

A new bar and restaurant at Helston has been named by the winner of a Packet competition.
The May Tree, which is part of a new hotel development, is due to open it’s doors on September and thanks to Theresa Neal now has a name that relects the area.
Theresa said: “I saw the competition in the Packet and thought I would enter. I do not often enter competitions because I do not have the time so it was great to win.
“The competition was asking for local links and as May is synonymous with Helston because of Floral Day I thought that was a good place to start.
“The tree came because Hawthorne trees grow like weeds around here and another name for it is the May tree, as it flowers in May.
As the signs have already gone up at the restaurant Theresa said she can not help but feel proud whenever she passes by in her car.
She hopes to be one of the first to enjoy a meal in The May Tree when it opens on Monday September 1.
Theresa’s prize was £100 worth of leisure vouchers which she can spend in hundreds of hotels and restaurants and shops across the county.
The 50 room hotel and bar/restaurant has brought 45 new jobs to the town.
