A garden party jointly hosted by RNLI fundraisers and Langholme Care Home in Falmouth has raised £450 for the lifeboat charity.

Members of the RNLI Falmouth Ladies Guild organised the event, which was held in the gardens of Langholme. The usual raffle, tombola and cake stalls were on display together with others selling wooden toys and cushions.

Pat Meredith of the ladies guild, said: “It was lovely. We haven’t got a garden so it was lovely to use the facilities here. Everybody enjoyed it and we were so lucky because the day was a nice day and didn’t rain at all. It was well attended and I think quite a lot of holiday makers came as well which was great.”

Mrs Meredith wished to thank the staff and residents of Langholme for getting involved with the day’s events and providing cream teas.

The mayor of Falmouth, Mike Varney was present to open the garden party.

The annual lifeboat service will take place at 6pm on Sunday, August 17 at Custom House Quay, to mark the end of Falmouth week.
